Naaaanoooo Soooooooper Rangaaaa

Film: Super. One of the most brilliant poster campaigns ever. Just the hand indicating "Super". This particular song has all the vigour and energy one would associate with a Upendra dance routine. Plenty of references to his previous films as well. Hope you enjoy this icon of Kannada cinema.

Real Star Upendra

Film: Raktha Kaneeru. Some song about the different stages of a man's life. Very apt about being a beggar post 40 and basically becoming a flat tyre once you're past 50 years of age. His films are the quintessential social satire. If you ever get the time, please do watch this one. Great dialogues throughout this film.

And yes, LOTD is back .. Again I think.. Youtube accessibility issues have been sorted out now \m/

Hail Mogambo

Special birthday dedication to one of Indian Cinema's icons. There was and always will be one Amrish Puri. LOTD pays homage to one of his most famous villainous portrayals as Mogambo, the maniacal warlord seeking to spread terror in India. Why Shekhar Kapur moved on to make drab films like Elizabeth is beyond me.

Batata Vada

Film: Hifazat .. Starring Madhuri Dixit and Anil Kapoor in some weird bhaang-induced hallucination. It hardly makes any sense why they'd dream about batata vada when high, but then again sensibility is hardly a qualifying criteria for being an LOTD ... Enjoy ..

The LOTD Film

There comes a time when one must acknowledge genius. Genius is often never recognized in its own time and so is the case with Mehul Kumar who gave us the very first certified full length LOTD feature film. TIRANGAA released in 1992 may not have exactly set the box office on fire, but gave us gems like Rajkumar as Brrrrrigadierrrrrrrrr Surrrrrrrrryadev Singh, Nana Patekar as Shivajirao Wagle (of "Maratha maarta hai yaa martaa hai" fame) and of course the matchless peerless Deepak Shirke as ... wait for it ... Pralaynath Gundaswamy. LOTD salutes this epic classic and dedicates this whole week so that you can see the entire film on the link below.

And the mandatory snippet is here as well. Nana Patekar goes on a passionate monologue while our Jaanbaaz Brigadier leaves this gem of a dialogue " Ye commando bada hi khatarnak hotaa hai Gendaaswamy,Ye tumhara baap hai ... Patta hilne se pehle hi Pedh kaat daalta hai .." ROTFL

Comic Partnership - Made in Heaven

When David Dhawan meets Govinda, absolute magic is created on screen. Shola Aur Shabnam marked the beginning of this revered partnership. Request you to spare 13 mins of your time and watch both the clips. Hilarious would hardly do justice as an adjective to this scene.

Date upon date upon date upon date for the 2.5 Kilogram Hand

Film: Damini. Made an absolute legend out of Sunny Deol. Firstly for his court scene where he leaves a heavy duty monologue and then of course for the "Dhai kilo haath" line. Think Amrish Puri's eyeballs were ready to depart from their sockets when he heard this line. God bless the elder Deol scion.
